Step 1: Come to Thailand with a Tourist Visa<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

If you’re planning to visit Thailand first and later retire<\/em>, start by getting a tourist visa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

  • This visa usually gives you 60 days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n
  • You can extend it at immigration for 30 more days<\/strong> (total: 90 days) for 1,900 THB.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    Step 2: Decide to Retire? You Need to Switch Visas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

    Once you’re here and decide, \u201cYes, I want to retire in Thailand,\u201d you\u2019ll need to change your visa type<\/strong> before your tourist visa expires.<\/p>\n\n

    To retire in Thailand, you must apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa for Retirement<\/strong> (people call it just the “retirement visa”).<\/p>\n\n

      Step 3: Apply Inside Thailand (No Need to Leave)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

      The good news? You don\u2019t need to fly out of the country.<\/p>\n\n

      You can apply for the retirement visa right here in Thailand<\/strong>, as long as your tourist visa is still valid.<\/p>\n\n

      But timing is very important<\/strong>. You must start early – at least a 6-7 weeks before your tourist visa runs out.<\/p>\n\n

      Step 4: After Approval, You Get One Year to Stay<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n
